Santorini…. Wow!!! Everything you think it will be and a million times more
Amazing mini break.
I stayed in the Kamari area, our hotel was right on the promenade with access to many bars and tavernas, outside of the hotel, again was a street that had lots of tavernas & restaurants. Our hotel was Afroditi Venus beach and was a lovely hotel in a great location on bed & breakfast. Kamari had a really lovely chilled vibe, and an excellent spot to sit watching the world go by.
Beaches… as it’s a volcanic island, there are no sandy beaches, at best, it’s black pebble, but don’t let that deter you! We enjoyed Dimitris Taverna the first night, a dinner show with traditional entertainment, plate smashing and dancing.
We took a transfer to Athininos port where we took
A sunset cruise. We cruised to the active volcano
Tholos Naftilos, before taking a dip in the hot springs (which was not so hot!! )! Next we cruised to the bay of Thirasia, where we had a BBQ on board with some stunning Santorini wine! before heading to Ammoudi bay at the bottom of Oia for a spectacular sunset!
The next day we took an island tour, this took us to profit Ilia’s monastery - the highest point of the island, down the to Pyrgos village, which is very underestimated & 100% worth a visit!
We then continued our town south to visit Akrotiri, where we views the ancient ruins excavation site and visited the Red beach. Sadly, Red beach is now closed and viewing is from the top only, due to risk of falling rocks, however, plenty avoided this warning !
We then headed to Fira, the capital before heading to see the famous blue dome churches and windmills of Oia! Oia is extremely busy, but 100% worth a visit.
I’ve popped on some pics… if your interested in Santorini or have it booked with me and would like info on any of the above please get in touch.
I have lots of tips to make the most out of your trip if you’d like to book with me
